[colug-432] COLUG April Meeting - Wednesday April 27, 7 PM - Open Source GIS

COLUG April Meeting will be held at 2Checkout.com this month: 1785 O'Brien
Rd, Columbus OH 43228 on Wednesday April 27 at 7 PM.  April's program will
be Open Source Geographical Information Systems.


We have Google Earth and Google Maps, so why do I need another system (or
two or three) to make and view maps?  What GIS applications are available as
open source programs?  What sources of data are there for these systems?
What else can I do with these programs besides make maps?

I will answer these questions and more.  I plan to speak about GIS systems
for an hour or so, followed by demos of some of the programs.


I have been emailing Scott about this meeting topic.  He secured the venue
for the evening.  I've been waiting for him to make an announcement, and he
has probably been waiting for me to make an announcement, so I figured I
would respond to the earlier email about the April meeting.

Normally we would hold the meeting on the last Saturday of April, but I will
be out of town that weekend.
