GingerBreak: An exploit written in C and executed on the device.

Unrevoked: This one is good if you have one of those phones. It runs
on Linux and credits Sebastian Krahmer.

psneuter, rageagainstthecage: Older device exploits written by Sebastian.

I used a front-end to psneuter and rageagainstthecage called
SuperOneClick. It is written in .Net, is a Windows executable and
runs on Linux with Mono installed. I was just curious if it would
work on Linux and it did. Behind the scenes I'd guess its only doing
what a shell script would do, and there are shell scripts out there to
do the same thing.

My wife has a Captivate with a known bug where wifi will stop working.
There are two ways to fix it. Either root it and delete the access
points file, or flash the thing and lose data. A third way would be
to take it into AT&T, but who'd waste their time with that? :-)
