The south end has the stinkiest stuff, 
but _nothing_ like it used to be. 

The rendering plant and sewage treatment plant were next to 
each other. The stench was phenomenal, from ten miles away. 
There have been changes. 

The rendering plant is gone[1]. The sewage treatment plant covered 
the settling ponds, also greatly reducing the stink.
