[colug-432] talking to your ISP

My story has a few paths and twists and turns on it here...
I'm on TWC, and would routinely get 23-25mbit downstream as long as I
chose a relatively decent Speedtest provider, with just under 1mbit
upstream. Same even when using the RR speedtest too. This was on a
Motorola Surfboard 5100 series cable modem.
When I switched my service to include phone service I changed nothing
else on my account - they only needed to re-provision the internet
service to see my new CPE ID (and add phone).
The new Combo MTA/Cable Modem (and now, built in router with WiFi), is
an Arris TG862G.
With the new device, I get no more than 14-15 mbit downstream, and
still the same upstream speeds.
Looking at the tech readouts on the router info page, I notice I now
have 4 downstream channels on 4 different frequencies:
651 MHz - Power of 4.96 dBmV - S/N of 37.94dB
645 MHz - Power of 4.71 dBmV - S/N of 37.94dB
639 MHz - Power of 4.54 dBmV - S/N of 37.36dB
657 MHz - Power of 5.25 dBmV - S/N of 37.94dB
upstream is just one channel:
32.10 MHz - Power of 30.71 dBmV and it says Mixed TDMA/ATDMA for
Channel type, and there is no S/N/R on the upstream.
It's curious that this is split into 4 downstream channels, yet the
performance is substandard to the Motorola.
Unless, of course, someone or something at TWC reset my download speed
when they re-provisioned the new equipment.
Now - a couple days/weeks ago, I get an email saying they have bumped
me up, and to please restart my modem/router to take effect. I did
that with zero change to my download speeds.
Is anyone else seeing multiple download channels, and is there any
other logical explanation for my loss of 10mbit/sec speed here?
-Angelo
