Glad you got it working.  For future reference and to answer your question ~

What mtab (or the mount command would get you the same thing) said about
your filesystem:

	/dev/sdc1 /sdc1 ext4 rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev 0 0

The noexec is I think - based on the answer you found - is what your problem
was.

What is in your fstab

	/dev/sdc1 /sdc1 ext4    user,defaults   0       2

IIRC, the 'user' option implies noexec among other things.
