I received this invitation to a members only event by the EFF
next week

As an unofficual added bonus, anyone who joins the EFF (they
have an on-line membership interface -- go do it now; I'll
wait until you return here), and brings along a copy of the
confirmation page to show me, will get a $40 credit on any
account at PMman, new or existing

Don Marti (Linuxmanship, and more) and I were batting this
around a while back. The EFF does not presently have an API
to demonstrate current membership to remote parties who may
want to support them with ad hoc membership premiums. I need
'evidence' to take to them in suport of them adding such

This is a perfect opportunity to see if my theory that 'geek'
people like membership premiums, and will act in their better
interest by joining the EFF when such are offered. The
'reference' post is at:

Dear Russ,

Join EFF Global Policy Analyst Eva Galperin for a drink next
Tuesday in Columbus! Raise a glass and discover EFF's latest
work defending your freedom online. Ask Eva your burning
questions about the state of privacy, security, and the NSA.

EFF's Speakeasy events are informal meetups that give you a
chance to mingle with local members and meet the people behind
the world's leading digital civil liberties organization. It
is also our chance to thank you, the EFF members who make this
work possible.

Find us at the (elided)! This is a free gathering for members,
donors, and their guests. For more information contact
membership at eff.org. All ages are welcome at the ***,
but 21+ only at the bar please. No-host bar.

Speakeasy: Columbus, OH
EFF Members-Only Happy Hour
