yes, I was running the command from /var/opt/novell/iprint/printmanager.psm/ directory

Oh, one more thought.... are you in the right directory?  If I randomly try "rm *.PA/*" and am in a place where no *.PA directories exist, then I get the same error message.  So, make sure you "cd /var/opt/novell/iprint" first.
