Works that way for me.  Just have to make sure the Kindle is in file
storage mode, so the computer can see it a file storage.  Make sure both
are on and plug the miniUSB into the port and then plug the USB into the
computer port and it should see the Kindle as file storage and show up in
your file listing in whatever file system you use..
