True. Some folks pooh pooh the idea of emailing petitions. Yes they can 
be diverted to the round file, bit bucket, etc. The truth of the matter 
is that if a significant number of electronic petitions hit their desk, 
desktop, server, etc, they take notice. They may mend their ways, put a 
positive spin on the subject, while doing the opposite, or do nothing.

The idea of petitioning the Lords of government, corporations, etc. is 
not effective and a waste of funds that could be put to better use. 
Postage will soon cost 50 cents. Say 10,000 people mail in their 
desires, that's $5000!
