[colug-432] FW: VM Workshop 2014 - Learn z/VM and Linux on System z from the Experts

Many of us are interested in virtualization. The "VM and Linux Workshop"
is all about that.

The conference is centered around z/VM. I have a personal agenda to make
it more general (especially since KVM now runs on "System z"). But z/VM
remains the leader in terms of performance, controls, and reliability.
(Insertion loss with z/VM is under 5% compared to native, which is
unheard of for other "full virtualization", normally only seen in
para-virt and containers.) It's good stuff to know about whether you're
a student or "seasoned" professional.

Mainframe hardware is better known for running z/OS (popularly called
MVS), the stereotypical green-screen and batch system. While MVS is
incredibly powerful for heavy lifting business operations, the hardware
supports other operating systems, including Linux and other Unix. This
workshop is a gathering of people using virtualization and Linux on that
hardware.

Also, my employer will be hosting a performance seminar two days prior.
Attendance to the seminar is free for people attending the latter workshop.
