posting, because it is easy for the reader to understand as it
follows the natural flow of conversation.
Why don't more people do this? Top or bottom posting is annoying because
the reader had to flip back and forth to follow a train of thought.
It all boils down to this: communicating well takes work. Either you spend
a few extra minutes as the writer to arrange things in a logical flow, or
you spend extra minutes as the reader to skip around and assemble a logical
flow from non-linear prose.
If you want to get into the etiquette of things it gets more hairy. If you
want someone to read what you have written, *should* you spend that extra
time to write, or *should* you have someone else spend some extra minutes
of their time to follow what you've written? In this venue, the mailing
list, it doesn't matter so much. But if your target is someone who is very
busy, like an executive, then putting forth the extra effort to create
clear, concise communication will be noticed and will give you a more
receptive audience.
