I followed you suggestion and reversed the steps in the URL.<br>

Kmail now works again and household equanimity is reestablished!<br>

The only thing that happens not is a bunch of error messages if I open
Kmail in a terminal window, but not if opened via gKrellM. (I've
attached the errors to this email to save space.)<br>

state? Seems like it's not uninstalled but rather disabled, so the
goal is to now get it running again.
