<p>As cheap as external dives are, I'd have two for backup purposes. I had a friend who lost many years of work when both his desktop and external drives died at the same time. And, coincidentally, my own backup drive gave lots of io errors last night when I attempted to backup a vm image. But I have two more external drives in my rotation.</p>
