Passing along some information about a short-term need to fill several
positions immediately.  JAS Global Advisors is a client, and they're
looking for more resources for one of their projects.

The project supervisor is Kevin White <kwhite at jasadvisors.com>.


Technical evaluator

FULL TIME, 3-6 month project, hard close date likely.

Rates commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Oral technical
qualifications interview required.  Permission to perform security
background check required.  Travel to initial training may be required.

100% effort required - ACCEPTANCE OF WORK WILL PRECLUDE ACCEPTING WORK FROM
OTHER CLIENTS, taking classes, or having other material commitments DURING
THE ENGAGEMENT.

Prior to performing evaluation, applicants will undergo multiple days of
training to understand the niche technologies and industry-specific
evaluation issues; people who don't uptake lots of advanced data quickly
need not apply.

SKILL SET
*	Fast uptake of written information
*	Clear decision-making, rationale for same expressed in writing
*	absolute discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality

MUST HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF:

*	Internet routing and networking principles and current protocols at an
advanced theoretical level
*	production scaling of large, high availability transactional production
systems backed by database backends
*	web and Internet protocols
*	communication skills in English
*	operational resiliency, disaster recovery, scalability of large computing
systems, survivability, continuity planning
*	technical risk assessment and risk management strategies

GOOD TO HAVE

*	proficiency with domain name system server software
*	proficiency with issues and considerations for distributed database
operations
*	proficiency and demonstrated understanding of theory of data backup
system (because the tolerances of the systems involved are extremely tight)
*	familiarity with data escrow concepts and processes
*	understanding of basic applied cryptography
*	familiarity with multiple language scripts and presentation in Unicode
and in the domain name system
*	familiarity with wide range of technical architectures (Linux, FreeBSD,
VMWare, other virtualization software)
*	Data security from both a policy and implementation standpoint
*	Firewall and network design experience
*	CISSP, CISA, auditing background
*	production experience managing/building/designing/administration of large
and high-availability, high-impact information systems (99.9+% SLA,
affecting systems with 1000 simultaneous users or more, etc).
*	proven ability and experience discerning technical meaning from documents
written by non-native English speakers.
