Allied used to be affiliated with Radio Shack

AvNet used to be affiliated with, or bought out the old
Hughes-Peters, south of the fairgounds, long ago

there was a stocking parts counter out on Trabue for years as
well, but it has also disappeared

Adafruit strikes me as well stocked, but pricey as to
shipping, and 'fully priced' as to its stock

Sparkfun is less pricey, and has supported some 'short run'
designers I have worked with, by handling marketing, website,
and fulfillment

Of the smaller Chinese houses, itead, and seeed seem to get
most of my 'long lead time' orders
