[colug-432] Microphone Problem openSUSE 12.1

I am at my wits' end (which doesn't take long for a half wit)!

The only app that finds the microphone is Chat Settings in gmail running 
on Firefox.  Both the default device and Webcam B500 Analog Mono work.  
The Webcam is a Logitech UVC Camera (046d:0807).  The bar for Webcam 
B500 Analog Mono shows volume changes in the Volume Control/Input 
Devices (PulseAudio Volume Control).  Other than these examples the 
system remains without mic input.

Yast/Hardware/Sound has three entries:

0   MCP55 High Definition Audio
         Driver snd-hda-intel
1   Solo-1 Audio Adapter
         Driver snd-es1938
2   USB Audio
         Driver

Any help will be much appreciated.
