My understanding is that Clear is the provider for Sprint's 4G WiMax coverage, 
which appeared in Columbus last fall. So in that sense I have a little 
experience with them via my phone, but of course when there's any trouble with 
that connection the phone falls back to Sprint 3G.

I can say that I haven't noticed any problems with weather or trees. Although 
the building where I work has a metal roof, the sightline to the 4G tower 
doesn't really go through the roof, so I can't say much there.

So the main thing I can offer is to expand your line of inquiry to include 
Sprint 4G/WiMax.
