[I sent this to another mailing list, but thought I'd try here to see
if anyone had experience with Clear]

I finally called Clear to find out about their service.  After
verifying that they have service at my home address and lots of
rigmarole, I think I understood what they offer:

 - 3G (maybe just 3G-equivalent speeds?) or 4G data service using
their "modem".  The 3G was a little cheaper.  The "home" service is
basically just an additional user on your account (where said user is
assumed to be sitting at your house) -- I had assumed that it was a
wireline service OEM'd from RR or Wow or at&t or someone else, but the
guy said that it was just another "modem" for their wireless data
service.  I couldn't figure out why I'd ever want a home service since
I could just use my mac as a WAP to serve the connection; he said I
could do that, but (obviously) when I left the house, there'd be no
service for the folks there.

Has anybody signed up for the service yet?  I'm curious about the
performance in various weather conditions, under tree coverage, metal
roofing, etc.

Jeff
