I'm sure it means "internal network".  Most systems these days do 
automatic lookups to check for things like updates/security fixes. 
Maybe you are running NTP on your boxes.  Anything that will send a 
packet out over the Internet would generally cause the modem to dial out.

Is 192.168.0.100 the IP address of your laptop?
