This is great.  Now does anyone know of a local source of inexpensive 
smart card hardware that is compatible with gpg on linux?  I've seen 
"starter kits" online in the $50 price range.  It would be great to be 
able to generate the keys on the smart card itself.  The only drawback 
would be the inability to decrypt messages on a smart phone.
