[colug-432] I/O Error?

I've used smartctl in the past to see if they're on the way out.   It also
can probe S.M.A.R.T and a bunch of other fun statistics if your hdd
supports it.

smartctl -a <device>

It is a part of the 'smartmontools' package in fedora.
