At Microcenter, a specific payment method isn't required as a
bargaining chip to win an argument with them over a return. They have
always had a very customer-friendly return/exchange policy. While
other outlets (several of which are now out of business, including one
particular little shop that used to be on N High and 13th and ripped
me off ... good riddance), charge "restocking" fees and other
nonsense, Microcenter has for some reason refused.
Best Buy, for example, is notorious for arguing with customers,
accusing them of theft, playing fast and loose with their own
return/exchange policy to the frustration of the customer, refusing to
honor warranty work, etc. Those guys shouldn't be in business.
Within the 30 days, I've never once had to argue with Microcenter
about a product that didn't work, was defective, or simply wasn't the
right one. Now, to be fair - there are some items which require
action within 7 days instead of 30. RAM might fall under that.
I'm still careful, but comfortable buying expensive items at
Microcenter. I know I'm not going to get ripped off if a part I buy
from them is bad, or is even my fault - the wrong part.
