Heh ... more juicy info keeps appearing.

Last Wednesday, we avoided much talk of using the link local
addresses.  Turns out that for operations like SSH, there is a trick.
First, the hard part, find out the LL addr of the remote system (on
your local network).  Second, decide the interface you want to use (on
the workstation, the local end).  Then connect with this syntax ...

        ssh thataddr%thisinterface

Works.
