I am going to have to put in a word in for the HP Proliant MicroServer as
well. Its not very often I am TRULY impressed with a pre-built computer of
any kind but I could ramble on for hours on the merits of what these little
boxes can do.

A N40L (Gen 7 that I believe was 150.00 new) runs my home network(most
things Roberto listed), NAS, Media Server, and lets me play with a couple
light KVM's. Even after maxing out the RAM with 16 GB ECC & a used RAC/ILO
card for it I think it is probably the best 300.00 I have EVER spent on
hardware. There is a fan in them so as far as being specific they do not
fall under the silent PC heading but two Gen 7's are a two feet away and I
can't hear them.

The Gen 8's do add a few great things the nicest being the ability to
toss XEON CPU's in the socket. Deals can be found OFTEN on the gen 7 &
8's if you have a little time to watch & wait.

Unix is basically a simple operating system. But you have to be a genius
to understand the simplicity. D.R.
