[colug-432] Printer Repair

I am repairing an Epson Stylus Color 1520 wide format printer. While it 
is cheaper to buy an ordinary size printer, new wide format ones are 
above the $1000 range. I noticed that there is a CMOS type battery on 
the mainboard. I am wondering what that is for. My understanding is that 
the software that controls a printer is in the computer that runs it, 
not in the printer, so that begs the question "whats the battery for"?
