Jacob,

You could hire someone to do the work, or you could look for an
alternative. I have found that nearly every project on GitHub (or
BitBucket, SourceForge, etc.) has a good 2 or 3, if not more, projects
that resemble it. I have actually had good luck with this, where I have
found a project that appeared to have been abandoned but I was able to
find a fork or "competing" project that was still active and close to
what I needed.

Of course, YMMV depending on the specific project, the problem domain,
and a multitude of other factors.

Regards,

-Roberto
