+1
I've come across some projects that were abandoned (and it happens in
the OSS world); but usually I'm able to find something else to accomplish
the task. Or I find another way to solve whatever problem I'm attempting
to solve. If what I'm trying to accomplish is within my skill-set I'll
attempt it on my own.
As far paying somebody to finish a project? If I were richer and the
situation I was in critically depended on using newer code? Maybe? I
mean, I personally couldn't see myself in such a situation but given
different people's circumstances it could happen.
