This is an engineer position on the Enterprise Data Warehouse and
Business Intelligence team. The position is responsible for
engineering and support of Nationwide’s Data Warehouse and Big Data
environments. Applicants must be self-motivated and demonstrate the
ability and desire to learn and support new technologies related to
BigData and Data Warehouses.

JOB  RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and develop new technology solutions relating to BigData and Hadoop
Identify opportunities and recommend technology solutions on Hadoop
and/or other BigData platforms
Provide thought leadership in BigData and Data Warehouse strategy development
Perform traditional Data Warehouse (Teradata and Netezza) database
engineering, database security and production support
Partner with infrastructure, operations and business teams to ensure
quality support and delivery to the end-users
Execute configuration management, problem mitigation, change
management, and critical situation management
Perform capacity planning, software product evaluation, systems
performance analysis and optimizations for software/hardware systems.
Provide database tuning for performance and stability
Determine systems hardware/software requirements and design.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Strong desire to learn and gain experience on new technologies related
to BigData and Data Warehouses.
3-5 years experience in large enterprise systems or database administration
Experience with Hadoop a plus
Experience in multiple languages (Java, Python, Perl, etc...) a plus
Experience with Data Warehouse technology (Teradata/Netezza) a plus
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and assimilate new technology
Strong communication skills required
