Does it run warm? Try cooling it. This is not a fix, 
but just a possible way of coping until you have a replacement. 

   Try keeping it away from warm or hot areas (like computer exhaust ports)
   Have a fan blow ambient air on it. 
   Put it in the plume of air conditioning. 

Putting it on a USB hub might help with the mechanical logistics 
of trying the above.
